LAKKI MARWAT: A man was killed and another sustained bullet injuries in firing during a musical concert, held at the hujra of Shafgatullah Khan, the PTI district councillor-elect, in Khoidadkhel area here on Wednesday night.

Lugman, a resident of Tajazai, told police that he along with Islamuddin and Abdul Hakim had gone to the hujra of the newly elected councillor to felicitate him on his victory in the local government polls when the incident took place.

Giving details of the incident, he said that a musical concert was in progress at that time and in the meanwhile two local persons scuffled with each other. `Islamuddin and I intervened and took one of them outside the hujra to pacify the situation,` he said, claiming that Shafgatullah and his brother Mohammad Iqbal opened firing on them when they re-entered thehujra. Mr Lugman said that Islamuddin was killed and another man Rehmatullah was seriously injured in the firing. The body and injured were taken to hospital while police registered a case against the newly elected councillor and his brother.

NARCOTICS SEIZED: Police on Thursday claimed to have seized over nine kilograms of narcotics from the hideout of a proclaimed offender in Ghaznikhel village.

An official said that police raided the hideout of proclaimed offender Sakhi Marjan after getting information that he had brought a huge consignment of narcotic to the village. He said that the proclaimed offender and his accomplice Azizullah were weighing the narcotics when police raided their hideout in Ghaznikhel.

The official said that Sakhi Marjan managed to escape but Azizullah was arrested in the raid.
