Man kills wife over domestic dispute

TAXILA: A man shot and killed his wife over a domestic dispute in Jameelabad in the limits of the Taxila police station on Sunday.

According to the police, Syed Jamal Shah was fighting with his wife Nargis Bibi over some domestic issue before he shot her with a 30 bore pistol. The suspect managed to flee from the scene. The Taxila police have handed the body to the family after an autopsy was conducted at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and registered a murder case against Jamal.

Separately, 12 gamblers were arrested during a raid at a gambling den in the limits of the same police station. According to the police, the raid was conducted after receiving a tip off during which Rs42,000 and gambling paraphernalia were recovered.

Meanwhile, the local administration conducted raids in various markets and booked and Kned many shopkeepers for profiteering and selling low quality and expired goods.

Six traders, most of whom are butchers, were booked under the Price Act, four were fined and dozens were given a warning.

Traders were also directed to keep their outlets clean.

Talking to the media on Sunday, Assistant Commissioner Waqas Marth said the government has directed for a check on proñteering and overcharging.

He said the district administration has decided to conduct a campaign against profiteers in order to ensure fair prices in the open market.

He urged people to inform the administration if they ñnd shopkeepers violating the price list.
