MANSEHRA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has sealed filling stations, post offices and utility stores over non-payments of taxes.

`We had served notices to tax defaulters many times but they didn`t bother to pay their due taxes, resulting in sealing of such businesses and service entities,` Irfan Mushtaq, district excise and taxation officer, told reporters here on Saturday.

He said a special team led by him paid surprise visits to the tax defaulters and sealed their outlets.

`This is for the first time that post offices and utility stores have been sealed over non-payment of taxes,` Mr Mushtaq said.

He said CNG stations and petrol pumps were also sealed and defaulters were warned to pay taxes or face legal proceedings.

`We have so far received Rs7 million in taxes,` he said.

He said taxpayers could submit their dues at his office`s cash counters.

Meanwhile, assistant commissioner, Oghi, Hasrat Khan paid surprise visit to basic health units and assured patients of better healthcare and fee medicines.

He visited the Khatai, Arbora and Nimbal BHUs and checked the medicines record and stock there. He also reviewed the healthcare services being provided to patients, particularly to women and children.
