LAHORE: Multan Crime Control Department (CCD) claimed on Wednesday to have killed three unidentified suspected robbers in an alleged encounter in Lodhran.
According to officials, a CCD team manning a checkpoint near Bahishti Bridge signaled five men riding two motorcycles to stop. On seeing the police, the motorcyclists attempted to flee, while the CCD team chased them.
The suspects entered a forest, where they left their bikes and after taking positions behind trees opened fire on the policemen, the officials said. They said that the CCD officials returned the fire and after a crossfire lasting for 10-20 minutes, they searched the area, finding three unidentified suspects lying shot dead.
The police also found two pistols, a rifle and two motorcycles from the spot.
The CCD team shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy. They are conducting raids to arrest the two fleeing suspects.
