LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday reserved verdict on a petition challenging cancellation of the Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) of a Pakhtoon man and Form-B of his two minor daughters by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
Wali Muhammad Khan, a resident of Qila Muhammadi, filed the petition through Advocate Chaudhry Shoaib Saleem pleading that Nadra cancelled his CNIC and Form-B of his daughters Somia and Afia.
The counsel contended that the family of the petitioner had been living here before the creation of Pakistan and many of his elders were government pensioners.
He said the petitioner`s family had been regularly paying taxes as citizens of Pakistan. He said Nadra cancelled the national identity documents of petitioner and his two daughters declaring them non-resident.
The authority never issued any show-cause notice to the petitioner before the impugned action, he added.
After hearing the arguments, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar reserved the verdict.
