PESHAWAR: Pakistan People`s Party will observe a black day today (Wednesday) to condemn the ouster of former prime minister Zulfiqar Bhutto from power through a military coup on July 5, 1979.
In a message issued here on Tuesday, party`s provincial president Mohammad Humayun Khan instructed the divisional and district level office-bearers to arrange workers meetings, seminars, peaceful demonstrations and rallies in their respective areas to condemn the ouster of a democratically elected government by a military dictator.
The workers, he said would hoist black flags on party offices and wear black armbands to show their anger over the toppling of the elected government.
Humayun Khan said that Bhutto family had rendered matchless sacrifices for the sake of country and strengthening of democracy and never bowed down to any military dictator. He said the party workers would also continue to fulfill mission of the late leadership.
Meanwhile, PPP Peshawar city organisation would hold a seminar at the press club on the day.
PPP provincial deputy general secretary Gohar Inqilabi said people belonging to different walks of life would participate in the event. The workers, he said were fully determined to take active part in the party`s activities and fulfill mission of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Bureau Report
