PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has asked the district administrations across the province to take precautionary measures to avoid loss of lives and damage to property during rains predicted for next couple of days.

In a letter addressed to the deputy commissioners, the authority said that Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted a weak to moderate monsoon currents penetrating north eastern parts of the province, which were likely to strengthen during coming days.

It said that under the influence of this system, rain, dust/ thunderstorms accompanied with strong winds were expectedatisolatedplacesinMalakand,Hazara,Peshawar, Mardan and Kohat divisions from Thursday to Sunday.

It said that rains and thunderstorm with gusty winds were also expected in isolated places of Dera Ismail Khan division. It asked the district administrations to inform tourists about the weather system, ensure availability of emergency services and remain vigilant in restoring road links.-Bureau Report
