LAHORE: The district administration has launched a campaign to protect citizens` rights and eliminate illegal profiteering.

Assistant commissioners and price control magistrates have been directed to ensure compliance with official price lists. On Friday, the teams conducted operations and imposed fines on the shops for various violations in various areas of the city.

Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza emphasised that liberating the public from inflation was a paramount priority for the government. He said the prices of several essential vegetables, including potatoes, onions and tomatoes, had stabilised as a direct result of these proactive measures. He said the prices of fruits such as apples, bananas, peaches and mangoes had also shown stability.

The DC said no leniency would be shown to individuals involved in illegal profiteering, reiterating that enforcing the official rate list was the core responsibility of the administration.

For the convenience of citizens, a con-trol room has been activated at 03070002345 for lodging complaints, and the public can also reach out to the deputy commissioner directly via social media channels. Daily monitoring of prices remains ongoing.

Meanwhile, the administration initiated effective measures to significantly improve the city`s cleanliness, sewerage infrastructure, and administrative functions.

DC Raza visited Allama Iqbal Town, accompanied by the chief officer MCL and the assistant commissioner. During the inspection, he expressed displeasure at the substandard sanitation arrangements and promptly instructed the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to ensure continuous and rigorous cleaning operations. He stressed that daily cleaning processes must be consistently maintained, and the doorto-door waste collection system should continue without interruption.

Furthermore, Mr Raza said that severe action would be taken against incidents of waste burning, which contributed to environmental pollution. He declared the swift resolution of sewerage issues as a top priority for the administration, ordering relevant authorities to take immediate action.
