A village abandoned

2015-08-05
ALONG the coast of the Arabian Sea there exists a village called Lakho Pir which consists of almost a 100 households. It is about 40 km from the district headquarters of Badin. No district government official of any department visits the village for assisting the villagers.

The only government primary school where around 80 students used to acquire knowledge has been damaged and academic proceedings have remained suspended since August 2010.

The nearest Basic Health Unit is 20km from the village, and it closes at 2pm which makes it difficult for the people to reach it on time.

More than 50 non-governmental organisations work in the district with the core objective of changing the living standard of the people. But in spite of that the miseries of local folks seem endless.
