PDMA team in Lakki to assess flood damage

LAKKI MARWAT: A team of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority visited the district on Tuesday to assess the damages caused by flash floods triggered by the monsoon rains.

The team members met deputy commissioner Ihsanullah Khan and then visited the flood hit urban and rural localities.

An official said the local administration had also prepared an initial report on flood damages while government departments concerned had been directed to prepare and submit similar reports.

He said the PDMA team consisting of experts went to Lakki city, Naverkhel, Daulatkhel, Eesakkhel, Zerjanu, Dhoda, Ahmadkhel, Shah Hasankhel and other affected localities where flash floods had swept away hundreds of houses. After assessing the losses the team will submit a report to the provincial government, the official said.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner on Tuesday directed the revenue officials to provide tents and other relief items to the flood and rain affected people.

`The affected people should not be made to take rounds of the offices of local administration and revenue department to collect tents and relief items,` Ihsanullah Khan said, and asked the officials concerned to facilitate the affected people.

It is pertinent to mention here that over the years Lucky Cement has won numerous awards such as Export and Innovation Award by Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan, Karachi Stock Exchange`s top 25 companies award, and the Management Association of Pakistan`s Corporate Governance Award.
