Interior minister`s convoy disrupted

RAWALPINDI: The police are searching for a black car which disrupted the movement of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan`s convoy when it was on its way to Punjab House, Islamabad on Thursday.

Police sources said the interior minister had started off from Serena Hotel and that about 1:30 pm, a black car attempted to disrupt the movement of the convoy at Secretariat Chowk.

The driver managed to escape and the incident was not captured on CCTV cameras installed in the high security zone.

In an unrelated incident, a double cabin Vigo was impounded by the police when it tried to enter into the VVIP convoy of the chief justice of Supreme Court on the Islamabad Expressway three times on Thursday.

The police said the chief justice`s convoy was heading towards Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad when a Vigo in which young boys were travelling tried to overtake the convoy multiple times in Soan.

The police blocked the way for the vehicle and impounded it at Khanna Bridge. The driver was also served a ticket.

Station House Officer of Khana, Inspector Malik Abdul Rehman told Dawn the three occupants of the vehicle had been handed over to the police.

`The police are investigating the boys and have not yet decided if they should be booked or let go,` he said.
