PESHAWAR: A select committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly approved the conflict of interest bill here on Thursday which is likely to be tabled in the House on Friday (today) for enactment, said an official statement.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak presided over the meeting of the committee at the assembly secretariat in which all clauses of the bill were cleared. Other members of the committee also attended the meeting.
Mr Khattak said that the basic philosophy behind the proposed legislation was to put some safeguards against the misuse of power and authority. He said that the government wanted full transparency in all public dealings.
`We have put on ground a system of governance where there is no space for any wrongdoings,` the statement quoted the chief minister as saying. The proposed legislation is aimed at keeping a check on all influencing tactics previously used by the authority in power to protect their interests.
