Case against five police officials in murder case

OKARA: Five police officials, including the station house officer (SHO), of the Mandi Ahmadabad police have been booked in a murder case.

Investigation in charge Shahid Pervaiz had arrested Hafiz Muhammad Qasim in an abduction case a few days back and on Thursday, he died from the alleged torture by the police.

Residents of Abaadi Rasoolpur protested with the body of H afiz Qasim in front of the police station.

District Police Of ficer Hasan Asad Alvi also arrived at the scene and suspended the moharrar and the duty constable from service and got registered a murder case against SHO Abdullah Ali, Shahid Perviaz, head moharrar Muhammad Akram Kamboh and two other police of ficials.

Superintendent of Police Zunera Noor will complete the probe in seven days. It is the second incident of death in police custody in the last four days as earlier Muhammad Anwar had died in the Satghara police station lock-up. The police called both death incidents suicide.

The association had invited a representative from Holland, Henk Holtslag, as chief guest while potato experts Dr Abdur Rauf Bhutta, Prof Dr Tariq Aziz from the Agriculture University of Okara sub-campus, Dr Ijazul Hassan, Riasat Ali Khan and Chaudhry Niaz Ahmad were speakers.

Speakers urged the potato growers to sow the latest seed variety. Mr Holtslag spoke on the internationally acknowledge potato seeds. Correspondent
