KARAK: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led district government failed to get the budget for the Escal year 2017-18 passed from the council as three members of PTI voted against their party here on Friday.
The treasury could only get16 votes against the requisite 18 votes for the purpose. The opposition secured 14 votes.
After failing to get the budget passed from the council, district nazim Dr Umer Daraz announced to seek approvalof the budget from the provincial govern-ment as per the provisions in the local government act.
The opposition members demanded of the district nazim to resign as he had lost the confidence of the council.
Meanwhile, MPA Gul Sahib Khan, brother of the district nazim, announced to send references to the election commission against those PTI councillors who did not vote for the party in the budget session.
He claimed that son and nephew of adviser to chief minister Malik Qasim Khan Khattak also could not participate in the budget session as they had gone to the US.
