BAHAWALPUR: A suspected Congo virus carrier was admitted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Sunday.
According to BVH emergency ward in-charge Dr Sajjad Moazzam, Akhtar, 34, belonged to Chishtian and his blood samples were dispatched to National Health Institute (NHI) in Islamabad for a pathological analysis. The test results were expected by Tuesday.
But, Dr Moazzam told Dawn that the platelets of Akhtar sharply declined and were reported to be only 23,000 due to which he was shifted to the isolation ward and was being treated for Congo virus.
However, till the results of his blood samples were received he would be treated as a suspected carrier of the virus.
