MIANWALI: Former PTI MPA and ex-provincial minister Abdul Rehman Khan, also known as Babli Khan of Isakhel, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment late on Tuesday from his residence in Isakhel on charges of corruption.

Khan, who served as an MPA during the PTI regime, is accused of receiving kickbacks from the contractors involved in development projects. Other allegations include the illegal awarding of development contracts to a firm allegedly owned by his son.

He is the younger brother of Mrs Zakia Shah Nawaz of the PML-N and was previously affiliated with PML-N.

Khan held the position of provincial minister for prisons in the cabinet of Shehbaz Sharif.

He later joined the PTI, where he was elected MPA from Isakhel tehsil. However, during the 2023 election, PTI did not nominate him, instead awarding the ticket for his seat to retired Maj Mohammad Iqbal Khattak, who won with a thumping majority. Correspondent
