2016-10-05
PEKING: `Should Pakistan be subjected to aggression in the future and if Pakistan needs China`s help, the Chinese Government and people will surely stand on the side of Pakistan and help to defeat the aggressors,` Chinese VicePremier Chen Yi declared here last night [Oct 3].

Mr. Chen Yi was replying to the speech made by the leader of the Pakistan friendship delegation, Mr. Abdul Monem Khan, at a banquet which he gave here.

The Chinese Vice-Premier said whether changes may take place on the continent of Asia or on its subcontinent, we believe that SinoPakistan friendship will not change.

`The peoples of China and Pakistan will unite still further and remain friendly from generation to generation,` he added.

He expressed the hope that China and Pakistan would co-operate closely and support and assist each other economically so as to strengthen still further the friendly relations between the two countrie s. Agencies [Meanwhile, as reported by agencies from Hyderabad,] Choudhry Mohammed Ali, chief of the Nizam-i-Islami Party, said yesterday that his party was making strenuous efforts for uniting the opposition to carry on the `struggle for democracy` in the country.

The former Prime Minister was talking to newsmen at the Kotri railway station while on his way to Lahore.

He alleged that political activities in the country have been adversely affected due to continuing emergency and Press curbs. Such an atmosphere, he said, was hardly congenial for healthy political development in the country.

The Nizam-i-Islami chief, who was sceptical about the policies of the present regime in solving the Kashmir dispute, when asked about the role he played while in power, only said that during his tenure he had united the various political sections of the country to strive for a solution of the issue.
