LAHORE: Lahore Zoo, like the rest of the world, celebrated the World Animal Day on its premises on Tuesday.

Also, one such event was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) by the Vets` Care Club under the theme of `Each and every one can make a difference for animals`.

The zoo administration put on display stuffed animals for visitors and for raising awareness on captive life breeding. The children were also provided with an opportunity to have photographs with different birds such as macaws and African parrots. The zoo also arranged a drawing competition among children.

Lahore Zoo Director Muhammad Shafgat said that animals were environment friendly and efforts should be made to save their different species.

World Animal Day is a day of action for animal rights and welfare. It is celebrated annually on Oct 4, according to the official World Animal Day website, to raise animals` status `in order to improve welfare standards around the globe`.
