LAHORE: A 22-year-old girl was found dead in a suitcase abandoned near a drain in Lytton Road area on Tuesday.

Police said some people found an abandoned suitcase near the bank of a sewerage drain at Pakistan Telegraph Colony and informed them.

A police team reached the spot, checl(ed the suitcase and recovered the body of a girl who was identified as Sumaira.

Police said the girl`s throat was slit and she was folded inthe suitcase. Marks of torture were also seen on her body, he said and added that police shifted the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a case againstunidentifiedperson(s).

Sub-Inspector Abdul Hameed said forensic experts and crime scene unit officials were called to collect evidence. The fingerprints of the girl had been taken and would be sent to Nadra for verification.

It is learnt Sumaira, a resident of Sattukatla, went missing and her husband Saifullah lodged an FIR against a suspect on Sept11. The suspect is on interim bail.
