IU organises dengue awareness seminar

KARACHI: Iqra University (IU) has organised an awareness session to address the increasing cases of dengue fever.

Speakers at the event said dengue is an infection spread by mosquitoes, and it requires intense social efforts for prevention. Providing accurate information about dengue prevention can significantly reduce the number of dengue cases in Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, Deputy Director General of the Vector Borne Diseases (VBDs), stated that dengue symptoms include fever, headache, joint pain, muscle pain, and a decrease in white blood cells. It is crucial to act on the precautionary measures issued by the Sindh Health Department to effectively control diseases like dengue and preventtheirrapid spread.

Prof Syed Ali Raza, director IU North Campus, emphasised the importance of education in public health, promoting awareness, and encouraging students to actively participate in safeguarding the health of the community.
