APROPOS the report in your paper (Nov 4) regarding the navy`s difficulties in coping with the current geopolitical challenge.
The navy`s point of view on this issue is that the mindset needs to be changed towards maritime security.
However, in my opinion the first and most important thing to do is to create a sense of importance and attraction in the public for the navy.
There are a few problems with the navy when it comes to marketing. They have helicopters, their own aircraft, possibly UAVs in future. Still people see them only through a narrow pipe of warships in the middle of a sea where life is horrible.
I believe the first step towards this attraction must be a change in uniform like the army did.
For years the navy has the same white uniform that at least does not attract a person like me who still wants to be in eitherofthe threeforces.
