26 land record centres approved

SIA LKOT: The Punjab government has approved a plan to establish 26 land revenue record centres in the Sialkot region.
According to the senior officials, the revenue department had started the process of selecting suitable places for the centres. They said two new land revenue record centres would be established in tehsil Saddar, Gujranwala, one each in Kamoki, Wazirabad and Nowshera Virkan tehsils and four each in Siallcot, Narowal, Gujrat and Hafizabad districts. The centre would provide quick services to the people regarding transfer of land record and issuance of the `Fard` of their lands, the officials added.
42 ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested42illegalmigrantPakistanis, deported from Greece and Turkey, upon their arrival at SialkotInternational Airport.
The FIA officials said human trafhckers had sent these accused to Greece and Turkey illegally against big amounts of money. The Greek and Turkishsecurityofficialshadarrested and deported them to Pakistan.
The FIA has sent the accused behind the bars after registering separate cases against them.
PRANK CALLS: The people of Sialkot district made 33,744 prank calls out of total 39,146 calls made to Rescue 1122 Sialkot during the month ofOctoberthisyear.
District Emergency Officer (DEO) Sialkot Syed Kamal Abid told the newsmen the people made only 1,532 valid calls for emergency relief and they were provided with services. As many as 3,513 calls were made for getting information, 357 wrong calls and 33,744 prank calls. The rescuers also fished out bodies of two unidentified persons from the canals.
WEATHER: The entire Sialkotregion received heavy rain followed byhailstorm,whichmade theweather cold. Thick clouds kept covering the city and its suburbs, forcing the people to use the woolies as well.
VISIT: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the newly established Head Marala Hydro Power Project near Head MaralaSialkot today (Monday).
According to the local senior officials of the Sialkot Irrigation Department, the hydropower project had been established on Upper Chenab Canal (UCC) near Head Marala Barrage over river Chenab at the cost of Rs3.98bn under the supervision of the Chinese engineers.
It has the total capacity of producing 7.64 megawatts power with four turbines of 1.9 megawatts capacity each. The turbines were made functionalafter their successful test runs conducted under the supervision of Pakistani and Chinese engineers, the officials added.
