SUKKUR: A jirga held in Sono Pittafi village near Khanpur Mahar on Sunday settled a dispute which had started over rejection of a marriage proposal in 2011 and later claimed lives of two men, Abdul Karim Pitafi and Shahzado Pitafi.

Mumtaz Khan Pitafi, chairman of Sonu Pitafi union council, who headed the jirga, read out the verdict, which found Behram Pitafi guilty of killing Shahzado and fined him Rs800,000 for the murder and Rs630,000 for injuring Dolo Pitafi and looting his property. The jirga also found Noor Mohammad Pitafi guilty of killing Abdul Kareem and fined him Rs800,000. -Correspondent
