LAKKI MA RWAT: A man was killed when his car was attacked near Tajazai on Bannu-DI Khan Road here on Wednesday.
Police said that the victim identified as Zakaullah was going to judicial complex when a gunman fired at the car inflicting serious bullet injuries to him. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
Safiullah, a brother of the deceased, told police that Zakaullah was driving the car while he was sitting on the rear seat. He said that another car overtook them and stopped at a small distance. He added that Farmanullah stepped down from the car and opened firing on them with his AK-47 assaultrifle.
He told police that Zakaullah was seriously wounded as a result of attack while he miraculously escaped. `The attacker left the place in his car,` he added.
Police said that the family of deceased had dispute with the attacker.
POETRY: The district administration and civil society jointly arranged a poetry recitation session here on Tuesday night to promote peace and spread the message of love and brotherhood in the society.
Afgar Bukhari presided over the session where local writers and poets from Tank and DI Khan districts attended the session.
Deputy Commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The poets presented their poems andreceived applause from the participants. The deputy commissioner announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the poets.
DRAINS: The residents have criticised the tehsil municipal administration for poor cleanliness conditions in Lakki city and its lack of interest to repair and reinstall damaged poles of streetlights.
They told journalists that overflowing drains had become a health risk as the municipal workers did not carry out cleanliness activity in the urban locality regularly.
Choked drains have been causing problems for the people as sewage can be seen scattered in several parts of the city.
A resident said that the main drain at the entrance of Mohallah Haqdadabad near bus stand was filled with filth, causing the sewage to accumulate and flow on the road.
