Jamaat demands inquiry against former ministers

TIMERGARA: The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami demanded of the provincial government here on Monday to order inquiry against former provincial ministers, MPAs and senators for alleged embezzlement of funds during the previous government.

Addressing a public gathering in Timergara, JI district chief Izazul Mulk Afkari alleged that funds were utilised on political grounds in the past. Only workers of Pakistan People`s Party and Awami National Party were bribed in the past, he alleged and government funds were meant for all people.

Mr Afkari said that JI believed in transparent distribution of funds. He said that ANP Senator Zahid Khan was still exploiting the situation by announcing supply of natural gas to different localities in the district. He said JI would move the court of law if the senator did not stop deceiving local people.

The function was also addressed by Provincial Minister Muzafar syed, MNA Sahibzada Yaqub Khan, JI district information secretary Malik Sher Bahadar and president AnjumanTajaranTimergara Haji Anwarud Din.

JIRGA: The Khall Peace Committee has demanded of the authorities to launch a crackdown against drug smugglers, car lifters and outlaws in the area.

A demand was made during a jirga held at police station Khall that was attended by members of the commit-tee belonging to Khall, Shal Palum, Toormang and Rabat union councils.

Former provincial minister Malik Jehanzeb, Malik Mohammad Zeb, Shad Nawaz Khan,Akhunzada Sikandar Rahman, Hafiz Asfandyar, Akhunzada Azhar Taqweem and Khalil Akbar said on the occasion that maintenance of peace was a joint responsibility of the government and citizens.

They said that members of the committee were supporting government in curbing militancy and eradicating social evils. They said that police had stopped registration of non-custom paid vehicles that caused difficulties for buyers. They demanded of the government to restart registration process of such vehicles at local police stations.

TEACHERS: The teachers with double mathematics and statistics combination in BA/ BSc on Monday demanded of the government to declare them eligible either for the post of SST science orSSTgeneral.

Addressing a news conference, the representatives of the teachers including Ihsanullah, Shahid Mehmood, Mohammad Qayyum and Umar Rahman saidtharaccordingtoeducation policy of the government, graduates with double mathematics and statistics, double mathematics and computer science, geography and chemistry, geography and biology combination in BA/ BSc were not entitled to apply for the post of secondary schoolteacher(SST) science and SST general.

`We are neither included in science nor arts,` they said, adding that most of their colleagues studied science in matric and intermediate classes. They said that the present education policy was based on discrimination and injustice.
