Education and progress

2018-01-06
EVERY year Pakistan allocates up to four percentforeducadoninthe budget expecting universities to produce talent but with little success to date. The country`s education standard continues to decline.

Every developing country is dependent onitsyouthforprogress.Pakistanis fortunate that 60 per cent of its population comprises of youth. The missing ingredient forprogressisthe standardofeducadon.

Reading habits need to be inculcated among students from the beginning.

Reading inculcates critical thinking and the students use logic and intellect to resolve a problem. In developed countries, children are motivated to visit libraries and read books on many subjects. Their teachers help them in selecting books. Reading will improve our youth`s mental f aculties.

Another important ingredient is the award of scholarships to deserving students. The public and private sectors need to increase manifold the sums spent on deserving students who aspire for higher education. The federal, provincial and district governments, however need totake the lead.

Our universities also have a major responsibility. They need to improve and upgrade their syllabi as well as examination system.

Our youth has talent but needs to be traine to meet the 21st century challenges.
