PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shah Farman on Wednesday said bomb blasts in Peshawar were an eye-opener after the Tehreek-iTaliban Pakistan insisted it was not involved in them, making it clear that the forces opposed to the proposed peace talks want to sabotage the exercise.
According to an official handoutissued here, Mr Farman asked for evolving a comprehensive strategy to make the impending peace talks successful and put a permanent end to bloodshed and insecurity in the country.
`The Taliban have disassociated themselves from the recent attacks, which served as eye opener making it clear that forces opposed to the restoration of peace and stability in Pakistan are not happy with the prospects of peace talks between the TTP and the govern-ment,` the official release quoted the minister as telling local journalists here.
The minister said the people and armed forces of Pakistan had rendered tremendous sacrifices and there was a need to arrive at a conclusion to put an end to the existing crisis.
Contrary to his own remarks about the recent terrorist attacks, he said the positive impact of the impending peace talks had begun becoming visible. He, however, did not spell out positive impacts of peace talks.
Terming restoration of peace vital for ending the atmosphere of fear and improving socio-economic situation in the province, Mr Farman said the government was serious in making talks a success so the Taliban should also reciprocate.
`Also, all political parties should work sincerely to make the talks successful because the country cannot afford more bloodshed and turmoil,` he said.
