PESHAWAR: Various political parties and civil socielty groups organised rallies and functions in the provincial capital and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the Kashmir Day on Wednesday to express solidarity with the suppressed people, and to demand solution of the longstanding dispute through UN resolutions.
In Peshawar, Jamaat-iIslami, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, All Jammu Kashmir Muslim League-Nawaz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Jamiat Talaba Islam, Imamia Students Organisation and other civil society groups organised rallies.
Jamaat-ud-Dawa activists took out a motorcycle rally from Fawara Chowk, Saddar to Hashtnagri, holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans condemning killing of innocent Kashmiris by the Indian forces in the occupied valley. JuD central leader Nasar Javed led the rally. The participants also shouted slogans against India.
Similarly, Jamaat-i-Islami, Peshawar chapter, also held a rally on GT Road which was led by central deputy amir Sirajul Haq. The party workers carried placards and banners and shouted anti-India slogans.
JI`s provincial informationsecretary Israrullah Khan and Peshawar amir Bahrullah advocate were also among the participants who marched from Hashtnagri Chowk to Ashraf Road.
Speaking on the occasion, Sirajul Haq said that no one would be allowed to bargain over the corpses and interests of Kashmiris. `The only solution to the Kashmir issue is implementation of the relevant United Nations resolution,` he added.
He asked the PML-N led federal government to take firm stance on the issue. He said that Kashmir was `jugular vein` of Pakistan, and would soon become part the country.
A protest march was also organised by All Jammu Kashmir PML-Nawaz from the Millad Chowk to Hashtnagri led by PML-N activists and trade leaders.
The rallies organised by JTI and ISO at Peshawar University expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
TIMERGARA: Different events were held in Lower Dir on Kashmir Day to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris.
Jamaat-i-Islami and Hizbul Mujahideen activists jointly organised a rally led by former MNA Maulana Asadullah from Ahya-ulUloom, Balambat, carrying banners and placards and chanting slogans against the Indian army for causing suffering to Kashmiri people.
Another procession led by deputy commissioner Mohammad Zubair was taken out from the DC office to the Timergara Press Club.
Local chapter of Jamaat-ud-Dawa also took out a procession from the general bus stand with the participants carrying banners and placards condemning Indian subjugation of the people of Kashmir.
MANSEHRA: The faculty and students of Hazara University took out a rally in connection with the Kashmir Day. The participants held banners and placards and raised slogans against India for not giving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
Kashmiris settled in the district also took out a rally to express solidarity with their brothers in the held valley and demanded withdrawal of Indian forces from there.
SWABI: Leaders of political parties, while addressing different functions emphasised that for durable peace in South Asia resolution of Kashmir dispute was a must.
They claimed that Kashmir was part of Pakistan, saying that principles of partition of subcontinent bound India to give Kashmiris their fundamental right to choose their destination on their own.They said Indian political and military leadership should give up their hegemonic designs and sit across the table with Pakistan to find out a peaceful solution to the dispute. The local education department also held various gatherings on the occasion.
DAGGAR: A walk was held here to mark the Kashmir Day participated by additional commissioner revenue Mohammad Iqbal Wazir, other government officials and mediapersons.
The participants were carrying banners inscribed with slogans in support of Kashmiris` struggle for freedom from the clutches of Indian forces.
MINGORA: Swat district government with collaboration of education department held a function to mark the Kashmir Day.
The function was held at Khpal Kor Model School, Mingora. Swat deputy commissioner Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah presided over the function, while MPA Mohib Ullah was chief guest.
Students presented songs and speeches highlighting the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. Later, students also organised a rally.
Another rally led by former provincial minister Hussain Ahmad Kanju ended outside Swat Press Club, where the participants shouted slogans in favour of freedom struggle of Kashmiris.
KARAK: Jamaat-i-Islami organised a rally to express solidarity with Kashmiris. The JI activists alleged that India was involved in bomb attacks and lawlessness in Pakistan.The rally led by JI`s district president Maulana Samiur Rehman and general secretary Ayatullah Khattak started from the office of the party and converged at Saddam Chowk.
CHARSADDA: Schoolchildren took out a rally here to mark the Kashmir Day.They carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of the Kashmirls` freedom struggle and against Indian atrocities in held Kashmir.
BATKHELA: A rally was taken out here to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
The district administration organised the rally and people from various walks of life participated in it. They marched on the road and chanted slogans against the Indian occupation forces.
KHAR: Speakers at a function held in connection with the Kashmir Day asked the government to take concrete steps for early resolution of Kashmir dispute. They also urged the international community to play its due role in securing right to self-determination for Kashmirs.
The Jamaat-i-Islami, local chapter, organised the function. Tribal elders, leaders of various political and religious parties and social activists were in attendance. The speakers highlighted that peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute was the need of the hour as Kashmir issue was a serious threat to peace in South Asia.
