Bano Qudsia laid to rest

LAHORE: Acclaimed novelist, playwright and short story writer Bano Qudsia was laid to rest in the G Block, Model Town graveyard on Sunday.

The prolific writer had passed away on Saturday after protracted illness. She was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital a week ago after her condition deteriorated owing to multiple medical complications.

Her funeral took place atthe E Block Mosque, Model Town which was attended by a large number of people, including political, social, literary and other personalities.

Among those who attended the funeral were retired Justice Nasira Iqbal, Yasmin Tahir, Bushra Ejaz, Barrister Aamir from the PPP, Dr Samia Qazi, Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture Director General Dr Sughra Sadaf, Ajmal Niazi, Bushra Rehman, Asghar Nadeem Syed, former cricketer Intikhab Alam, Usman Peerzada, Muhammad Tehseen from South Asia Partnership-Pakistan, actor Rashid Mehmood, senior journalist Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Shoaib Bin Aziz, Lahore Arts Council Executive Director retired Captain Atta Muhammad Khan, Pakistan Television Corporation Chairman Attaul Haq Qasmi, Baba Najmi, Hussain Nagi, Dr Amjad Pervaiz, Siddiqu1 Farooq, Jehangir Tareen and Orya Maqbool Jan.

Ms Qudsia`s gul will be held at 3:30pm at J Block Mosque, Model Town on Monday (today). Officials from Pakistan Academy of Letters and Punjab Council of Arts laid wreaths on Ms Qudsia`s grave.
