Woman killed, husband injured during `robbery`

ISLAMABAD: A woman was murdered and her husband injured apparently during a robbery in capital, police said on Monday.
The incident took place in Sector G-16 where two gunmen intercepted the couple`s car when they were going home in Rawalpindi, they said, adding that the gunmen pulled out the man from the car and started beating him.
When the man put up resistance the gunmen opened fire. As a result the man sustained bullet injury in his ankle, the police said, adding that his wife, sitting in the front seat of the car, received a bullet in her right shoulder and died on the spot.
The gunmen also looted cash Rs116,000 from the car and a mobile phone and escaped, they said, adding that later the injured and the body of the woman was shifted to hospital.
After getting information the police also reached thehospitalforlegalprocedure, the police said, adding that one of the gunmen seems to be in his mid 30s while the others were in their early 20s, they added.
A case has been registered at Tarnol police station against the unidentified gunmen under section 302 and 324 of PPC in response to the complaint lodged by the injured, Adnan Khan, the police said.
When contacted, PRO for the police Taqi Jawadfor comment, that the case was registered under charges of murder and murder attempt and the charge of robbery was not included in the FIR, he said the gunmen allegedly looted the cash as per the complainant.
However, police are waitingfor the autopsy report of the woman and further section of the PPC, including robbery will be added to the FIR on the light of the report, he added.
Hours later, the complainant informed the police about the incident, the PRO said, adding that besides, the police did not find any blood stains in the car.
