Countering terrorism

2025-02-06
TERROR has once again struck Balochistan in recent months. As such, this has been going on in Balochistan since 1947.

The first conflict occurred in 1948 against the signing of instrument of accession by the Khan of Kalat when his brother revolted against him and took refuge in Afghanistan.

He later surrendered to Pakistan in 1950. The second conflict was when Nouroz Khan took up arms in resistance against the one-unit policy from 1958 to 1959.

His revolt was crushed, and he was put in prison where he died. His sons and nephews were also charged with treason and subsequently hanged.

Since then, conflicts have become characteristic of life in Balochistan. Not much different is the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Truly, the government in the centre seems to be helpless due to the 18th Amendment, and the governments in the provinces lack the will due to political considerations. As a result, Pakistan and its people continue to suffer.
