THE engineers in Sindh and Balochistan are facing discrimination as they are being deprived by theirrespective provincial governments of their rights. Engineers employed by Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governments currently receive technical allowance for specialised skills and significant contributions to infrastructure development.
On the contrary, engineers in Sindhand Balochistan are deprived of similar benefits, demotivating the engineers and creating inequity among the professionals.
Progressive measures taken by the governments in Punjab and KP have been vital in supporting and retaining skilled engineeringprofessionals.
Sindh passed a unanimous resolution in the provincial assembly on June 12 last year, advocatingthe grantoftechnical allowance for engineers.
However, the provincial government has yet to make any move in this regard.
The situation in Balochistan is equally concerning.
This lack of acknowledgement affects their morale and hinders the province`s capacity to attract and retain skilled professionals crucial for sustainable development.
Sindh and Balochistan governments need to address this disparity and align with the standards established by the Punjab and KP governments through granting technical allowance to their engineers.
Such measures would uplift the morale of these professionals, and significantly enhance the quality ofinfrastructure and development projects in the provinces.
