ISLAMABAD: A constable of Islamabad police was killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident late on Tuesday, the police said.

The constable was identified as Mohammad Amir, deployed with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Islamabad police.

According to the police, the victim, riding a motorcycle reportedly stopped at a traffic signal in G-10 waiting for the traffic light to turn green when all of a sudden, a speeding car appeared and hit the constable.

As a result, Mohammad Amir sustained critical injuries, while the driver of the car sped away with the vehicle.

Later, he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the funeral prayers of the constable were offered at the Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad. Staff Reporter
