LAHORE: The Lahore operations police on Wednesday arrested a stalker for continuously harassing a university student for seven months.

The arrested man is a motor vehicle examiner of the transport department. The complainant even blocked his 70 mobile sims during the last seven months.

In yet another case the same day, the police arrested threesuspects who allegedly gangraped two teenage girls.

Reports suggested two policemen had `raided the house` of a widow and sexually assaulted her daughter and niece.

An official said the first incident took place in Misri Shah where the university student filed a complaint against the transport department official who had been harassing and blackmailing her for long.

As the matter reached DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, he ordered the formation of a special team which arrested the accused official, ensuring immediate legal proceedings under the relevant sections of the law.

According to police report, the university student complained the inspector had been harassing her for the past several months.

She blocked approximately 70 sims but could not deter him.

She said the suspect was wellconnected and had no fear ofpolice and law.

The official said the police team had collected substantial evidence which confirmed the allegations.

The DIG Operations confirmed to Dawn the action had been taken under CM initiative of zero tolerance towards crime against women.

He said special units had been established in police stations to ensure swift action against harassment complaints.

He said the women can report harassment instantly through emergency helplines and the Women Safety App, ensuring immediate police response. He said trained units had been deployed in public places and educational institutions to prevent harassment.

About the other incident, the police said the armed men barged their entry into the residence of a housemaid, a widow in Raiwind area, on Wednesday.

He said the intruders allegedly gangraped two girls, leaving the woman in a trauma as she was forced to hear cries of her daughter and a niece.

The official said the DIG Operations suspended a police post head from service and got arrested three suspects.

The raids were being conducted for the arrest of two policemen, the other prime suspects who forcibly entered her house along with private accomplices in the name of `police raid`.

The woman told the police she was a housemaid and only breadwinner of her daughter and niece. She said the accused also made video recoding of the rape and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the police.
