Reluctant families convinced to get children vaccinated

DERA GHAZI KHAN: After 26 familiesrefused tovaccinate their children during the ongoing anti-polio campaign, health officials and the district administration have engaged with the parents through awareness efforts.
After counseling, all hesitant parents were convinced and their children were administered polio drops.
The campaign has made progress, with 264,962 children under the age of five receiving polio drops on the second day of the drive.
This marks an impressive coverage of99.29 per cent against the set target of266,854 children.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Usman Khalid, while chairing a review meeting at the DC office, commended the health teams for their dedication.
FAKE CALL CASE: A case was registered against a resident of the Sabzani area for making a fake call.
Shah Bakhsh was booked for making a false call to the emergency helpline 15 at Sabzani Police Station, TehsilRujhan Mazari, District Rajanpur.
The suspect had reported that 15 unidentified people had snatched Rs3 million from him at gunpoint in Kacha Chauhan. However, when the police reached the spot and conducted an investigation, it was revealed that the call was fake and made to trap an opponent.
The police have registered a case against Shah Bakhsh under the Telegraph Act of 1885-29 at Sabzani Police Station for making a fake call.
PROJECT: The ninth meeting of the Academic Council of Ghazi University has approved the initiation of digital agriculture projects alongside the establishment of a degree programme in ar tificial intelligence.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Ashfaq Ahmed.
The session, attended by academics and officials from various institutions, focused on enhancing innovation and ensuring high-quality education across all departments.
Registrar Dr Abid Mahmood Alvi served as the secretary of the meeting,which saw participation from the additional secretary of the Higher Education Department, representatives from the University of Agriculture of Faisalabad, Women`s University of Multan, Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture of Multan, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Islamia University Bahawalpur, University of Education Lahore, and senior faculty members of Ghazi University.
In his opening remarks, the VC welcomed the participants and briefed them on the university`s recent advancements. The council then reviewed and approved the proceedings of the eighth meeting.
Several key academic decisions were made, including the introduction of new degree programs, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, and the establishment of a Business Incubation Center and an I-Center. Additionally, digital agriculture projects were approved, aiming to modernize research and teaching methodologies.
These recommendations will be presented to the Syndicate for final approval.
