Ajoka to mark International Women`s Day with two plays

LAHORE: Ajoka Theatre is set to mark the International Women`s Day with a compelling presentation of two short, hardhitting plays at the Lahore Arts Council on March 8 (Saturday).

The plays Lappar and Sharam Di Gal delve into pressing social issues affecting women. Lappar offers an engaging and thoughtprovoking exploration of societal attitudes toward the birth of baby girls, challenging deepseated prejudices with both wit and insight.

In Sharam Di Gal, the spotlightis on the harsh stigma attached to victims of rape, presenting a raw and honest portrayal of a subject often shrouded in silence.

Both plays were penned by renowned playwright Shahid Nadeem. Lappar was originally directed by the late Madeeha and Sharam Di Gal by Ajoka Institute director Nirvaan Nadeem.

Ajoka Theatre`s Executive Director Shahid Nadeem commented, `Ajoka is firmly dedicated to using theatre to sparkis on the harsh stigma attached to victims of rape, presenting a raw and honest portrayal of a subject often shrouded in silence.

The performances are a part of Lahore Arts Council`s day-long programme on International Women`s Day on 8th. The plays are free for public and will start at 3pm sharp at Alhamra`s Hall 2. Staff Reporter
