Two Toba kinno growers win positions

TOBA TEK SINGH: A kinno orchard owner of Chak 341GB, Nanglan, Mian Arif Saeed, has won a tractor-trolley in a kinno (citrus) production competition.

Mr Saeed stood first in the district and second in the province in the competition arranged by the Punjab Agriculture Department for the kinno crop 2017-18.

According to the agriculture department official, the competition was held among the growers of eight districts of Punjab. These districts were Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Layyah, Okara, Khanewal, Vehari and Bahawalpur. Of them, Mr Saeed produced 35,693 kilogramme kinno per acre in his orchard. Bahawalpur farmer Khalid H ameed got the top position by producing 35,738 kg kinno and won a laser land leveller.

He said another farmer of Toba Tek Singh`s chak 332 GB, Adnan Habib, got the third position in Punjab and second in the district by producing 35,255 kg kinno. He was awarded an orchard mango sprayer machine.

The decision of winners was made by a seven member committee, consisted of the director general of agriculture research (Faisalabad), the director general of field, the director general of water management, the director general of extension and adaptive research, the director of crop reporting services, the director of agriculture information and the director of citrus research institute, Sargodha.
