KARACHl: The Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) and the provincial health department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for prevention of rabies.
Under the agreement, the IHHN would carry out workshops on rabies Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) with the aim to train master trainers in the management of dog-bite cases in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
`The network will also advise centres on providing wound wash facilities, maintaining uninterrupted supplies of anti-rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin,` said a press release.
Over 200,000 dog bite cases were reported in the province yearly, and many of them proved fatal due to lack of post-exposure treatment at health facilities, it added.
