BAHAWALNAGAR: A youth was shot dead over a water pump theft accusation in Haroonabad on Tuesday evening.

The Haroonabad Saddar police said Atif Ali from Chak 5/1R was shot dead by Saifur Rehman and Inaytullah of the same locality. The motive behind the murder was a theft dispute.A month ago, Saif accused Atif of stealing his water pump, which was denied by Atif during a Panchayat that was held to resolve the issue.

Later, with the help of the Panchayat members, the two had reconciled.

However, Saif still held a grudge and allegedly killed Atif at the behest of Inyat.

The police are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects.
