Rally in Jacobabad over PPP man`s remarks against G.M. Syed ends in clash

SUKKUR: At least 10 political activists were injured in a clash between activists of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on the one side and those of Sindh United Party (SUP), Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Bashir (JSQM-B) and other nationalist groups on the other, during a rally in Thull town of the district on Saturday.

Those injured included PPP Jacobabad city president Jamil Dayo and SUP district president Jamal Josh Buriro.

The fist-fight erupted during a rally, organised by the SUP and JSQM-B, set off from Amroti Chowk in Thull town. It was led by Jamal Josh Buriro and JSQM-B taluka president Waseem Qureshi.

The organisers said that the rally was aimed at registering their strong protest against PPP`s Jamil Dayo for`using foul language against revered Jeay Sindh Tehreek founder G.M. Syed` while addressing a PPP rally a couple of days back.

While the nationalist parties` rally reached in front of the old Sui Gas office, the participants came face to face the local PPP leaders and activists. Both sides exchanged harsh words against each other.

According to SUP and JSQM-B, Jamil Dayo`s son Babar and accompanying PPP workers resorted to attacking the rally participants with clubs and stones. Some of Babar`s companions also fired shots into the air, they claimed, adding that this led to a free-forall and left many people injured.

For about 30 minutes, both sides fought a pitched battle after which the local police intervened to disperse the warring sides.

During the clash, Jamal Josh Buriro,Waseem Qureshi, Dadoo Qureshi, Jamil Dayo, Babar Dayo, Imdad Dayo, Haider Dayo and several other activists from both sides were injure d.

They were rushed to the Thull Taluka Hospitalfor emergency treatment.

SUP`s Jamal Buriro was later shifted to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital due to his critical condition, according to local party activists.

As soon as the newsabout the clash spread in Jacobabad city and surrounding towns, activists from the two sides started rushing to the taluka hospital to inquire about the health oftheirleaders.

Large groups of activ-ists also gathered at Jacobabad`s A-Section police station to seek information on wellbeing of their relatives. The police registered noncognisable reports (NCs) of both sides.
