2017-05-06
RAWALPINDI: After registering a repon in their diary against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for allegedly provoking people and creating hatred against armed forces, the police have directed the complainant to approach the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) since the matter related to cybercrime.

However, complainant Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmed Mirza refused to approach the FIA claiming that it was purely a police case and the police were bound to register a First Information Repon (FIR).

He said he had decided to file a petition with the sessions judge seeking directives to the police for the registration of the FIR.

`We have decided to go to the justice of peace (session judge) seeking his directives for the police to register an FIR,` Mr Mirza, the chairman of the IM Pakistan, told Dawn.

Mr Mirza claimed that his political pany, IM Pakistan, was registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The repon was registered in the police diary, commonly known as Roznamcha on Thursday.

Mr Ahmed in his complaint to the police said he was sitting at his office at the district courts when he received a WhatsApp clip which showed a man making a speech. He claimed that it was visible that the man delivering the speech was Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said Mr Sharif in his speech was provoking people and creating hatred against the armed forces.

`Since the complaint lodged with the police is related to the cybercrime, the complainant is directed to proceed to the FIA for funher investigation,` the police said in a repon handed over to the complainant.-Staff Reporter
