Lakki police avert armed clash, arrest seven persons

LAKKI MARWAT: Police claimed to have averted an armed clash between rival groups in Gandi Khankhel locality of Naurang town on Sunday by arresting seven persons from both the sides.

An official said a contingent of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan police station led by SHO Ghulam Mohammad rushed to the village when DPO Abdul Hai alerted them about the possible clash between rival groups. He said local residents were panicked and frightened when they spotted armed men roaming in the locality.

The official said the villagers took a sigh of relief when they noticed presence of policemen in the rural locality.

`The cops besieged the hideouts of armed men and arrested seven of them besides seizing five repeater guns, two rifles and a good number of bullets,` he added.

STUDENTS GET UNIFORM, PRIZES: A function was held at Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School, Lakki, on Sunday to distribute school uniform, trophies and cash prizes among orphan and position holding students.

District education officer Nazir Ahmad Khan, who was the chief guest, also inspected morning assembly. The students presented songs and tableaus on the occasion.

Principal Sifatullah Khan said a student from the school had topped the Etea written test across the province for admission to centres of excellence.

He said the students also won Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa scholarships on the basis of matriculation results.

ARREST: Police arrested two outlaws and a facilitator and seized weapons from them during search and stril(e operation in Tajori on Sunday.

An official saidNaurang circle DSP Shafiq Khattak led the action assisted by Elite Force commandos.

The law enforcers arrested Qutbuddin and Abdul Jalil wanted by police in murder, attempted murder and other cases, he said, adding two AK-47 assault rifles, a pistol and good number of bullets were recovered from them.

The official said police also captured Kherullah, a facilitator of PO Naveed Zaman, and recovered an assault rifle, a pistol and 65 bullets from him. Correspondent
