T HER E has recently been a heated debate on social media on the postponement of Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examinations by the government. It is disappointing to see the conductofteenagers andthelanguage they have been using on social media for the minister concerned before and after the said decision.
The students may have a different opinion on an issue than the government, but the reaction of some students to the decision made by minister about CAIE examinations has been nothing but derogatory and disrespectful.
This is a pandemic that we are going through, an unprecedented situation.
Whether the decision taken by the government is correct or otherwise is another issue, but hurling obscenities andshowing disrespect, and that too over a public forum, for someone who is also much senior is uncalled for and cannot be justified.
I hope that parents of these illmannered youngsters will advise them to be respectful to their elders even if they have to vent their anger on an issue on social media.
