Man sentenced to life in drugs case

KHYBER: A local court here has convicted a person for narcotics trafficking and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs500,000.
The court of additional sessions judge Shaukat Ali ruled that the prosecution had proved the guilt of the accused, Umer Khan, a resident of Swat district, beyond doubt and the court found the accused guilty of the offence under section 9 (d) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Control of Narcotics Substance Act.
The convict was arrested on April 30, 2023, in the jurisdiction of Bara police station when he was driving a Suzuki pick-up vehicle.
The police claimed of recovering 48 kgs of charas from the said vehicle.
He argued that the accused was alone in the vehicle and was arrested red-handed while he was driving the same. He stated that huge quantity of contraband was recovered on pointation of the accused from the said vehicle.
