Eight terrorists killed, security official martyred

PESHAWAR: A security official was martyred and eight terrorists were killed in multiple engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday and Monday, the military`s media wing said.
A statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday said that an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted by the security forces in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district. The security forces effectively engaged and killed three terrorists.
It added that in another IBO conducted in South Waziristan, security forces gunned down two terrorists.
The statement however said that during intense fire exchange, 40-year-old Naik Mujahid Khan from Kohat district, who fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.
The statement also stated that more engagements between security forces and terrorists took place in Khyber and Bannu districts, resulting in killing of three terrorists.
It said that the security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives.
The official statement said that sanitisation operations were being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist in the area.
