KARACHI: The provincial health ministry on Sunday confirmed the first death this year of a dengue fever patient, a 30-year-old man, who originally hailed from Benazirabad district.

`The victim`s name was Wazir Ahmed, 30, who died at a private hospital last week, said Dr Masood Solangi, head of the provincial dengue prevention and control programme. The death was confirmed on Sunday after completion of all investigations.

He said that according to the deceased`s identity card his permanent address was Benazirabad district but he lived and worked in Karachi.

He, however, did not reveal the neighbourhood where he resided.
