GUJRAT: A fire erupted on Monday in a warehouse of a leading electric fan manufacturing unit situated at GT Road, reducing to ashes plastic raw material and machinery worth millions of rupees.

Rescue 1122 and fire brigade units of the municipalities of the neighbouring cities have been striving hard to extinguish the blaze for the last four hours but could not completely control it till the filing of the report at 6.30pm.

However, no human loss or injury has been reported whereas the cause of the fire could not be ascertained so far.

A personnel of the Rescue 1122 told Dawn that the fire erupted in the plastic [materiall warehouse of the General Fan Company (GFC) fans. `Firefighting units from Gujranwala, Lalamusa, Wazirabad, Kharian and Jalalpur Jattan are trying to extinguish the blaze.

`It is almost one kilometer long warehouse of the plastic material particularly of washing machines manufactured by the company,` the rescuer said.
