GUJRANWALA: Citizens have accused of ficials of union councils of overcharging them for fee under heads of late birth entry, name change and marriage certificate.
The Punjab government through a notification announced Rs100 as fee for computerised birth and death certificates and Rs150 for computerised nikah certificate.
Visitors to the UC officials allegedthat the staff, including secretaries, would receive up to Rs1,000 for nikah certificate.
`If someone comes for issuance of late birth entry, change or correction of name, the secretaries speak of complicated procedure and [allegedly] charge up to Rs5,000 and don`t give a receipt,` said one of the visitors.
People have demanded thatGujranwala Commissioner Muhammad Asif and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Aamir Jan take action against UC secretaries who are allegedly looting them.
When contacted, UC Secretary Muhammad Adrees said: `We don`t receive any extra money from applicants and all such allegations are basele ss.` Correspondent
