RAWALPINDI:First casualty from Covid-19 was reported in Rawalpindi police department when a constable posted at Police Wireless Control Room died on Thursday night and was laid to rest on Friday.
The constable tested positive for Covid-19 and had been in isolation for the last few days at home.
Meanwhile, a DSP City Circle was diagnosed with the disease on Friday, which took the tally of confirmed patients to 50 in Rawalpindi division police. However, the results of more than 100 police officials are awaited.
City Police Officer Muhammad Ahsan Younas, said that the swab testing of police officials is continuing in Rawalpindi as the DSP City has been tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
The CPO said the number of infected police officials has been increased in Rawalpindi district and majority of those were deployed at quarantine centers or had been performing security duty with processions in the recent past.
