Commissioner issues notices to Gujar Khan district council officials

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha on Monday issued show cause notices to chief officer and executive engineer of Gujar Khan District Council for inordinate delay in execution of development schemes in the district.
He was presiding over a meeting to review progress on development schemes in Kontrilla union council. Director Development Nazia Parveen Sudhan, Director Health Dr.
Ansar Ishaq, Director Colleges Sher Ahmad Satti, Superintendent Engineer Highway-I, Superintendent Engineer Building-I, Executive Engineer Local Government and Community Development and officials of other departments concerned attended the meeting.
The commissioner said that no negligence will be tolerated in development works. He said that the completion of these projects in stipulated time frame should be ensured.
`No scheme should be left incomplete by end of fiscal year and ensure that all funds are utilized, without compromising on quality,` he said.
He further said that pavement should be constructed along the roads even in the remote areas, as it helps in the durability of roads. He also ordered proper maintenance of roads in these areas as roads repair is ignored due to unavailability of funds.
While giving a briefing about various schemes, Director Development Nazia Parveen Sudhan said that the Kontrilla schemes include upgradation of basic health centre in Gujar Khan, construction of a public park-cumplayground while the rest of the work is in progress.
Apart from this, she said that a graveyard scheme in the same union council has been sent to the Divisional Development Committee for approval. She further informed the meeting that construction and repair of 29.8km-long-road from Gujar Khan to Pir Phulai and widening and repair of Nyan Ban to Kaholi Hameed Road are also included in the scheme.
